Glycerol and benzoic acid combine to form Glyceryl Tribenzoate (C₂₁H₂₀O₆, CAS No. 614-33-5). It has little to no smell and is a white to off-white crystalline solid or viscous liquid, depending on the situation. It increases the flexibility and durability of polymers, resins, and coatings and is mostly used as a plasticizer. Furthermore, it is used in specialty formulations, adhesives, and lacquers. It is stable under typical handling and storage conditions and is soluble in organic solvents but insoluble in water. Glyceryl tribenzoate is thought to be reasonably safe due to its low acute toxicity, yet extended exposure may result in moderate skin, eye, or respiratory irritation.

Causes severe irritation and burns. May Be harmful if swallowed. Avoid breathing vapor or dust. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothes. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep container closed.
