Sodium propylparaben (CAS No. 35285-68-8), also known as propylparaben sodium salt or sodium p-hydroxybenzoate propyl ester, has the chemical formula C₁₀H₁₁NaO₃ and a molecular weight of approximately 202.18 g/mol.

Sodium methylparaben (CAS No. 5026-62-0), also known as methylparaben sodium salt or sodium p-hydroxybenzoate methyl ester, has the chemical formula C₈H₇NaO₃ and a molecular weight of approximately 174.13 g/mol.

• Absorption, Distribution and Excretion-Propargyl alcohol is quickly distributed and excreted following an iv dose. The majority of the radioactivity ((14)C-labeled test material) was excreted in the urine and as carbon dioxide in the breath of both rats and mice. Oral dosing resulted in a similar rapid (but slower than after iv dosing) excretion pattern, with the bulk of radioactivity being excreted in the urine and exhaled carbon dioxide. Dermal absorption was low due to the volatility of propargyl alcohol. Inhalation exposure resulted in 55 to 63% absorption of inhaled propargyl alcohol at 1 or 10 ppm and only 23 to 33% absorption at 100 ppm. Both species eliminated the majority of the inhaled dose in urine.

• EYES: First check the victim for contact lenses and remove if present. Flush victim's eyes with water or normal saline solution for 20 to 30 minutes while simultaneously calling a hospital or poison control center. Do not put any ointments, oils, or medication in the victim's eyes without specific instructions from a physician. IMMEDIATELY transport the victim after flushing eyes to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as redness or irritation) develop.

• SKIN: IMMEDIATELY flood affected skin with water while removing and isolating all contaminated clothing. Gently wash all affected skin areas thoroughly with soap and water. IMMEDIATELY call a hospital or poison control center even if no symptoms (such as redness or irritation) develop. IMMEDIATELY transport the victim to a hospital for treatment after washing the affected areas.

• INHALATION: IMMEDIATELY leave the contaminated area; take deep breaths of fresh air. IMMEDIATELY call a physician and be prepared to transport the victim to a hospital even if no symptoms (such as wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, or burning in the mouth, throat, or chest) develop.

• INGESTION: If the victim is conscious and not convulsing, give 1 or 2 glasses of water to dilute the chemical and IMMEDIATELY call a hospital or poison control center. Generally, the induction of vomiting is NOT recommended outside of a physician's care due to the risk of aspirating the chemical into the victim's lungs.

Also Known As Liquid Paraffin, Mineral Oil, Or White Oil, It Is A Mixture Of Saturated Hydrocarbons With An Approximate Formula Cnh2n+2 (Commonly Around C15–C40) And An Average Molecular Weight Of ~300–450 G/Mol, Depending On Grade.
